Origins of Indian Head Massage

For more than 5,000 years, Indian women have passed on the art of Indian Head Massage down the generations. The therapy originates from Ayurveda, an ancient method involving natural therapies, taking account of mind, body and spirit. My Indian Head Massage is a combination of traditional Indian and Western massage techniques.

What happens during an Indian Head Massage?

An Indian Head Massage lasts 45 minutes (although can be shortened to 15-20 minutes if it takes place in the workplace).

You will be invited to take a seat and relax on a low backed chair as its mainly the head, face, neck, upper back and shoulders that are worked on. If having the full 45 minute treatment, you will also have an arm and hand massage.

Oils are optional in Indian Head Massage. If the treatment is performed without oils you can remain fully clothed (a lightweight t-shirt would be ideal). If oils is preferred, upper clothing can be removed and a sarong/towel used to ensure modesty.

Can everyone enjoy Indian Head Massage?

This therapy is suitable for most adults but there are certain conditions where you should avoid Indian Head Massage. For this reason a full consultation will take place before the treatment. A confidential record card will be kept with any relevant notes for future treatments (see privacy policy).

After your treatment

To gain maximum benefit from your Indian Head Massage treatment, it is advisable to drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol in the hours immediately after treatment.
